Callisto is a Wilderness Boss that currently makes over 3 mil gp per hour. It's a group boss meaning you can kill it in a team and it's recommended to do so.
Up to 10 people can get loot from a Callisto kill. Callisto is a bear, and can be killed on a bear slayer task from Turael or Krystilia. He is weak to range and mage, and freezing him is key to fighting him effectively.

Gear & Inventory Setups
Callisto can be effectively defeated with Ranged or Magic.
Ranged Gear & Inventory
For rangers, the best weapons to use are:
Webweaver Bow
Craws Bow
Bowfa with crystal armour
Crossbows
Here are 2 example gear setups for ranged.
On the left is a beginner's low level setup. Those boots came with varlamore and are called mixed hide boots. Theyre cheap and useful for wilderness content. On the right is the max setup with ranged, with 4 valuable items, so you'll need protect item on with this setup.
And heres an example inventory setup for rangers.
You should bring blighted food with you since its cheaper, and combo food is very helpful at callisto. Youll need a teleport out, and blighted ice sacks or entangle sacks if youre freezing. In your team, you need at least one person to be freezing callisto. If that’s you, its much easier to freeze if you take mage as your attack style. Although you can use ranged just as long as your magic attack is above 0.
Magic Gear & Inventory
For magers, the best weapons to use are:
Accursed sceptre
Thammaron's sceptre
Tumeken's Shadow
Sanguinesti Staff
Trident of the Swamp
Trident of the Seas
Warped Sceptre
Here are 2 gear setups for magers.
On the left is the minimum setup for mage, with a warped sceptre. On the right is the max setup for mage without risking too much. Those boots are bloodbark boots, which are a cheap magic boosting option. The occult necklace is almost essential, and a tormented bracelet is also powerful.
Here are 2 example inventory setups for magers.
On the left is using forgotten brews for magic boosting, and on the right is using an imbued or saturated heart.
Callisto's Mechanics
Now I'm going to show you all 4 of Callisto's mechanics and how to avoid them.
- Melee Attack
When in melee distance, Callisto uses a melee attack which attacks an area and does huge damage.
Protect from melee only reduces the damage by 50%, so its strongly recommended to freeze and range or mage him.
- Ranged Attack
If you're out of melee distance, Callisto will use a ranged attack
Praying ranged reduces the damage from this attack by 100% so for most of the fight, you will be using protect from ranged.
- Magic Attack
Throughout the fight, Callisto launches a white projectile at a single player.
You need to turn on protect from magic when Callisto leans back to perform this attack otherwise you get knocked back and hit hard. This is an area attack, so players nearby can get affected as well.
- Bear Traps
At 66% and 33% hitpoints, Callisto spawns bear traps across the floor.
Walking into one of these hits up to 15 damage and stuns you.
Fight Runthrough
Now I'll take you through a fight with Callisto so you can watch how it works.
After 20 Kills at callisto, you can right click the cave and see how many people are currently in there. So you hop until you find an empty world, and once ready, head inside with protect from range active.
If youre freezing, then the first thing you should do when you get down there is cast a freeze spell on callisto. The first thing that Callisto did on this kill was do his magical knockback attack, so I swap to protect mage and then back to protect range. When you see callisto do a big roar, he gets unbound from the freezes so I get prepared to re-freeze him. The fight continues and I move around the room to stay out of melee distance. Eventually I defeat callisto and the loot gets dropped underneath me.
Loot From Callisto
Callisto gives loot to everyone that participated in the battle. So even if youre not the MVP you'll still get loot and a chance at the pet. As I mentioned, Callisto is over 3 mil per hour in a good team, and that’s mainly due to the voidwaker hilt drop.
Callisto has a lot of valuable regular drops, like grimy snapdragons, ranarrs and toadflax, coconuts, dragon bones and more. The average loot per kill is currently 165k, which is very good.
Escaping PKers
Being a multicombat area, lots of pkers roam around Callisto's area. So to survive the most, you should try to stay towards the exit of the cave while fighting.
When a pker comes, you exit through the escape caves with protect from magic active, and then run south in the wilderness until you're below level 30.
