How To Splash in OSRS

Splashing is a magic training method that involves the player constantly splashing a magic spell on the same enemy. This causes the player to be able to constantly attack the enemy without having to attack another one.

This means that players can achieve 5 minute afk times before having to click on their screen, or players with the logout timer plugin on Runelite can extend this afk time to 25 minutes. This makes splashing the most afk way to train your magic level in the entire game.

How do you even splash? In order to splash, players must have a magic accuracy bonus of -64 or lower. Since the players accuracy is so low, this causes the spell that is cast to splash regardless of the enemies defence level. Down below are the gear setups required to splash:

1 Defence/1 Range Setup 40 Range Setup

Things to note in these setups: players with 50 defence and strength can wear granite. Granite provides the most negative mage bonus in the game in the leg slot, and the second most in the platebody slot. This completely removes the need for any ranged levels to be able to splash.

Fire spells are the best spell to cast for splashing as they provide the most xp out of any 4 of the elemental spells and cost the same to cast in comparison to the other 3 elements. Down below is a table outlining all of the expected xp rates from splashing as well as how much it will cost you. All of the values below assume you are casting the spell without boosting and with a fire staff equipped.

Players are able to boost their stats in order to cast spells at an earlier level. The boosts that I recommend are the divine magic potion as well as the saturated heart. These boosts allow for a 5 minute uninterrupted magic boost which does not drain overtime. Do note that if playing on the Runelite client, this would decrease your 25 minutes of afk time to 5 minutes of afk time since you would have to use the heart or the potion again in order to maintain the boost. This will allow the player to cast spells higher than their base magic level allowing for casting higher level spells at a lower level, increasing xp/hr as the cost of AFK time.

Locations:

There are many locations a player can splash and there is no said location that is viewed as the best. The general rule of thumb whenever trying to find somewhere to splash is that its important other players are not able to kill the enemy that you are splashing on and it is important that you are able to not die to that NPC. This means the NPC you are splashing on should not be in a multi-combat area and the NPC you are splashing on should have no possibility of killing you. The only area that is an exception to this rule is the Lumbridge area. Players splashing here will gain 0 xp. This was implemented as players splashing looked odd to players who were new to the game. Down below is a list of all of the best splashing locations that can be found around Gielinor.

Another location that is good for splashing is the Cave Kraken boss. If players attack the whirlpool in the middle without using a fishing explosive or without clearing out the tentacles first, players are able to splash on the cave kraken's whirlpool without getting attacked whilst also getting hitpoints xp as well. This method does require 87 slayer and a cave kraken slayer task in order to be performed. Players can expect to get 1200 casts of the spell they are trying to cast per hour and the xp/hr is heavily dependent on your gear as well as the spell you are using.
